Dear Shareholders,
We would like to inform you that assessments for 2025 will be mailed shortly. You may notice that there is an increase in these assessments from previous years, as the rates have remained unchanged for quite some time.
This adjustment is necessary to reflect the rising costs associated with our Deer Creek storage water and our CUP water, as well as the administrative fees we incur for the ongoing state adjudication and the state’s review of the valuation of B shares.
As we have seen more shares removed from solely agricultural use, the demands on our resources have increased significantly. To better manage these responsibilities, we have hired more staff to coordinate and assist with our daily operations. We are confident that this will enable us to be more responsive to shareholder requests.
Additionally, we are excited to share that SKIC has successfully secured grants that have facilitated repairs to some critical areas of our ditch system. While these grants have alleviated a portion of the financial burden, SKIC remains responsible for contributing to the necessary repairs. We will also be including ongoing maintenance and repair projects in our budget process to ensure the continued functionality of our systems.
Looking ahead, SKIC plans to start utilizing our Municipal and Industrial (M&I) water in the upcoming year. Consequently, we will adjust assessments annually based on our estimated costs to maintain transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
The SKIC Board
We are sure that it comes as no surprise that irrigation water is in short supply this season. We have exhausted all of our water sources as of August 3rd and have been assuming that we would have to cancel turn 6. However, after the Board of Directors spent hours working with the Provo River Commissioner and the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, we have been able to pull together enough extra water to extend our irrigation season through August 15th. This is not a full turn but it does give the shareholders who have CUP contracts and did not get water during turn 1 a chance to make up for that lost water.
The irrigation schedules for 2025 are now posted. Please check the schedule for any changes.
Joint Annual Meeting was held on April 22nd. The vote to combine the companies passed unanimously by all eligible shareholders present.
The first phase of our main ditch repair project will be finished soon. Irrigation water should be in the ditch on either May 5th or May 6th.
Irrigation shareholders may start irrigating according to the irrigation schedule as soon as the water level allows. Shareholders who missed the first turn will have a final turn added on at the end of the regular season.
Beginning in May 2025 monthly meetings for NWIC and SKIC will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
March 2025 and April 2025 meetings will still be held on the 2nd Tuesday.
Ditch repair project is starting. Stock water will be removed from the system by midday on February 1st.
The Irrigation Companies are working with Francis City to compensate those shareholders who have stockwater and will be over their basic allotment of city water during the period when water will not be in our ditch system. In order to qualify for compensation, you will need to sign up with Francis City before the project begins and water is removed from the system. You will need to let Francis City know how many head of livestock you will be watering and a rough estimate of how much water will be used.
NWIC and SKIC will be starting the repair work on our main canal soon.
No stock water will be supplied for the duration of the Main Ditch repair project. After reviewing costs, contractor bids, and timing of the project, the boards have concluded that costs can be reduced by a minimum of $141,000 and the project can be finished in a more timely manner if we remove water from the canal during the construction period. We realize that this poses a hardship for shareholders that utilize stock water but in reviewing the costs vs benefits, the boards concluded that eliminating the need to pump stock water around the area of construction would provide the greatest benefit.
SKIC and NWIC will be on CUP water for turn 6. Only shareholders who have a current CUP contract are allowed to use water at this time. Our intake of water from the Provo River and our return flow to the river are monitored on a daily basis by the Provo River Commissioner. Turn 6 begins at 5AM on August 3rd. Do Not use water just because there is some in the ditch and Do Not use irrigation water if you do not have a CUP contract.
Please note corrected schedules for SKIC Burbidge #1 and NWIC Group 3.
Please note all new turn schedules for SKIC and NWIC have been posted. Please check schedules for any changes.

The boards of SKIC and NWIC have voted to extend the moratorium on signing change applications for another 60 days. We hope that this extension will give us enough time to get all issues resolved. SKIC and NWIC reserve the right to extend the moratorium again if necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
The date of the regular monthly meeting for NWIC and SKIC has been changed from February 14th to February 15th.
If your water shares are all through NWIC or SKIC, the water companies will file necessary paperwork for the adjudication. If you have a change application with the Utah Division of Water Rights and that water is through either water company, the water companies will file on them but you should file as well.
If you own water rights that are separate from the water companies, you need to be sure to file the paperwork. You can check the adjudication page at the Utah Division of Water Rights to see if there are any water rights that you may not be aware of. If you have water rights separate from the water companies and they are not listed on the adjudication page, you need to file on those rights. The state may not be aware of them.
Effective 11/9/22 and extending 120 days, NWIC and SKIC have placed a moratorium on signing change applications. The Companies have placed this moratorium while we resolve some issues with the State regarding the amount of water held by each Company. The Companies reserve the right to extend the Moratorium if a resolution is not reached within the 120 day period. Additional posts will be added as we have more information.
